Veterans Administration Services

Odessa is home to a Veterans Administration Comprehensive outpatient clinic. Health care is provided in areas of medicine, surgery, mental health (including an intensive outpatient substance use program), physical medicine and rehabilitation, oncology, and dentistry.

Located in Big Spring (50 miles from Odessa), the West Texas VA Health Care System is a 95-authorized bed (55 acute and 40 extended care) medical center, which serves 58,000 veterans in an area spanning 33 counties in West Texas and New Mexico. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education. Inpatient care is provided in medicine and extended care, with referrals to other VISN 18 facilities and community. It also has 40 nursing home beds.
